49 Degrees North Opening Update; Just One Good Storm Away!
Unfortunately 49 Degrees North will not be opening this weekend (11/27, 11/28). Although we have 9” of good snowpack at the base, 14” at the summit, and have been making snow with fervor, we’re not quite there yet. 49 Degrees North’s mission is to ensure the highest-quality experience for our guests, and with warm temperatures on the forecast, opening early could mean compromising that mission. We are only one good storm away from opening, and our crew has made every preparation possible to ensure that when the snow comes, we’re ready.
Our crew has been making snow every chance the weather and conditions have provided, allowing us to give mother nature a hand in giving us the snowpack we need to operate. We will continue to make snow in all areas as the weather and conditions permit.
One of the most exciting upgrades at 49 Degrees North this off season has been the installation of our brand new Doppelmayr High-Speed Quad, Northern Spirit. Our crew has been working through rain, shine, sleet, and snow all through the off season to make this project happen and we couldn’t be prouder of their work. Northern Spirit currently has all 116 chairs loaded on and will be ready for our guests to ride on opening day! We can’t wait to share the short ride to Chewelah Peak with all of our guests.
We are pumped at the thought of opening soon, chomping at the bit to open our doors to guests and have our crews fully ready to operate when the snow comes. With our new snowmaking system and a little love from mother nature, full-blown winter season is hiding just around the corner. Keep the stoke up and the snow dances coming, as we are just one good storm away from opening day! Make sure to follow us on social media and keep visiting our website for the most up to date information about opening day, events, and winter operations. We can’t wait to see everyone on the slopes for opening day!
